We are looking for an estimator with a keen analytical mind and the ability to tackle several projects at the same time in a fun, collaborative workplace.
Position
The cost estimator is responsible for HVAC control project cost assessments. Reporting to the head estimator, they are responsible for analyzing client, subcontractor, and supplier documents to determine equipment quantities and estimate projects’ material and labour costs.
Responsabilities
- Reading and interpreting control, mechanical, electrical and architectural plans and specifications
- Generating control equipment quantity accounts
- Assessing labour costs
- Analyzing subcontractor tenders
- Establishing and maintaining working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Providing subcontractors with required tendering information
- Preparing project tenders, participating in financial reviews, and submitting tenders
- Following up on tenders submitted
- Working with the sales team
- Working with the operations team (project managers, engineers, technicians, installers)
- Filing and updating tender data
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years in HVAC or industrial control estimates
- Technical training required (DEC instrumentation and controls); strong experience in a similar position will also be considered
- Good analytical and synthesis skills
- Good teamwork, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure
- Organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings
- Functional English an asset
